Mikel Parker is a Managing Director at Genesis Capital working closely with healthcare services and minority-owned businesses. Mikel has over 15 years of investment banking experience, specializing in mergers & acquisitions and public and private debt and equity capital raises, over which time he has completed an aggregate transaction value of over $4 billion. Mikel’s healthcare clients have spanned the healthcare services spectrum while his work with minority-owned businesses has ranged across multiple industries, including manufacturing, retail, restaurants, business services and technology, among others.
Prior to joining Genesis Capital, Mikel was a Vice President at Shattuck Hammond Partners, a healthcare investment bank, which was acquired by Raymond James. Before Shattuck Hammond, Mikel was an Assistant Vice President in GMAC Commercial Finance’s Asset Based Lending Division. Prior to GMAC, Mikel was a Senior Analyst in the Investment Banking Group at Robertson Stephens, which he joined with colleagues from the Corporate Finance Department of The Robinson-Humphrey Company, now SunTrust Robinson-Humphrey.
Outside of Genesis Capital, Mikel co-founded and previously served as the CEO of a healthcare management company focused on pain management and serves as a board member today, which helps him remain connected to the regulatory and operational challenges that healthcare services companies face on a daily basis.
Mikel is a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta and the Atlanta Chapter of Washington and Lee University’s Interview Committee. Mikel was an All-American soccer player and a 4-year letter winner at Washington and Lee University. He was inducted into W&L’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
Mikel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Washington and Lee University and his Master of Business Administration degree from Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
